Fremantle Highway Reaches Port for Vehicle and Fuel Disposal

Vessel Arrival in Eemshaven Marks Start of Recovery Process

Damaged Cars and Heavy Fuel to be Unloaded

The Panama-flagged car carrier WEB MV Fremantle Highway, which suffered a severe fire while in the Atlantic Ocean, has arrived at the port of Eemshaven in the Netherlands. The vessel's arrival allows for the commencement of recovery operations, including the unloading of damaged vehicles and heavy fuel.

The Fremantle Highway, owned by Japanese company Shoei Kisen Kaisha and managed by Wallem, caught fire in February while carrying approximately 4,200 vehicles. Extensive damage resulted from the blaze, forcing the crew to abandon ship and prompting a major salvage effort.

After days of firefighting and towing, the Fremantle Highway was brought to Eemshaven, where specialized teams can now focus on removing the damaged vehicles and heavy fuel from the vessel. The disposal of these materials is crucial for environmental protection and the safe handling of the ship.
